High-Speed HDMI Cables & Adapters
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main differences between HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 cables?
HDMI 1.4 supports resolutions up to 4K at 30Hz, while HDMI 2.0 can handle 4K at 60Hz and offers improved bandwidth, up to 18Gbps. If you plan to connect devices for high-resolution video streaming or gaming, choosing HDMI 2.0 is recommended for optimal performance.
Are these HDMI cables compatible with older devices?
Yes, HDMI cables are generally backward compatible. HDMI 2.0 cables will work with HDMI 1.4 ports, but performance may be limited to the maximum specifications of the older devices. Always check the specifications of your devices to ensure optimal compatibility.
What length of HDMI cable do I need for my setup?
The optimal length depends on your setup distance. For most home or office environments, lengths between 1 to 5 meters are sufficient. For longer distances, consider active HDMI cables or HDMI extenders to maintain signal quality without degradation.
Can I use HDMI cables for audio devices as well as video?
Yes, HDMI cables transmit both audio and video through a single connection. This feature simplifies setup by eliminating the need for separate audio cables, making it ideal for connecting TVs, sound systems, and projectors.
Are there HDMI cables that support Ethernet connections?
Yes, certain HDMI cables come with Ethernet support, allowing you to share an internet connection between compatible devices. If you have devices that support HDMI Ethernet Channel (HEC), consider these cables for added convenience.
What should I consider when choosing an HDMI cable for a 4K display?
When selecting an HDMI cable for a 4K display, ensure it is at least HDMI 2.0 or higher to support 4K resolution at 60Hz. Also, look for cables labeled as 'High Speed with Ethernet' to ensure sufficient bandwidth for features like HDR and enhanced audio return channel (eARC).
